Since the launch of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a wide array of heroes, and a gripping narrative showcasing angels, fiends, and malevolent powers increasing in influence within the urban setting.
Note: Spoilers for the third episode of the new season are included.
The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled
Episode 3 finished on a major cliffhanger and introduced the premier party of adventurers who will branch out from the central cast to begin their own adventure, distinct from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team consists of Teor Pridesire (played by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
Given 13 cast members, it was clear from the outset that keeping everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
This explains, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, intertwining the individual narratives before branching into three separate parties: Fighters, Schemers, and Explorers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for participants who are drawn to a traditionally charged battle-oriented gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are scarce.
At first glance, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander might appear out of place, but the actions of the latest installment show why these five characters are best suited for the combat party.
Reasons to Leave
To begin with, the party has a clear idea where to proceed after a violent opening clash with the enemy group.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose death kicked off the campaign’s events—manipulated the enemy for his personal gain, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the rogue, and taking all the powerful objects to auction.
Casimir then cleared his debts and ran away to a secure base in the northern region, above the urban center, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each member has a personal reason to leave the city the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as the close ally and best friend, desires revenge.
- The adventurer has experience in the northern area and advises that it is a dangerous environment.
- The warrior and Wicander, having resisted his family’s wishes to kill the fighter and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their reputation as prominent individuals in the powerful family could help the party enter locations they usually can’t.
- Moreover, The grateful character vowed a eternal obligation to Wicander for his salvation and will now go with him anywhere.
Fugitives
Finally, all of them are wanted by the authorities that rule Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and The hero are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and The cleric betrayed House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
- The target is marked for death by the family.
This leaves them little choice but to head to the northern region in search of the antagonist.
Future Episodes
According to the recent installment’s post-show segment, we discover that the combat party will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight players to assemble the Questers and Planners groups.
Audiences can expect learning which characters will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s last Overture episode, released on October 24.
